A new opportunity exists for a Hardware Mechanical Engineering Manager for the New Haven, CT area.

The HW/Mechanical Engineering Manager MUST BE a Hands-On Sr. Mechanical Engineer and have experience with Imaging Systems, Robotics and Automated Equipment, with emphasis on system engineering. System engineering includes looking at the whole system, end use, implication, etc: electrical and not just mechanical. This person will be able to work from an architectural standpoint – very upfront part, defining the product.



This individual will lead Design Engineering projects through all product development phases from concept to manufacturing transfer and is highly interested in considering a challenging individual contributor role with technical and project management leadership responsibilities.



Additional responsibilities include contributing towards and/or creating new product requirements definition, system architecture, and system design requirements specification. In general, the candidate will perform a variety of complicated tasks and will work in an environment that a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Applies advanced knowledge of mechanical design/engineering principles to design products such as robotic parts, mechanisms, instruments, motion controls, tools/fixtures, machines, etc.

  • Mentor the department personnel for technical support and guidance.

  • Monitor the projects for timely development and risk management.

  • Update management team of program progress and status of critical issues.

  • Vendor interaction.

  • Support technology road map and company vision in standards and processes.

  • Engage in cross-functional technical meetings to enhance products reliability and process enhancement to reduce costs.



Additional Desired Job Qualifications:




  • B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience.

  • Strong experience designing imaging, electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-optical systems.

  • Strong experience developing technology and concept proposals.

  • Strong experience designing hardware for production medical equipment under FDA guideline is highly preferred.

  • 2+ years of management experience and/or training.

  • Knowledge of the product development process, a variety of manufacturing processes, mechanical system integration, and design for manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

  • Excellent communication skills to all levels of business units.

  • Program management skills.

  • Experience with 3-D Solid Modeling CAD tools - Solidworks preferred.
