Sr. Manager, Veterinary Operations - Dairy (East)

Veterinarian Operations Colleague Management
•Managing the performance of direct reports including review of annual objectives, establishing performance standards and metrics, and overseeing annual performance appraisals, performance improvement processes, and salary management.
•Providing coaching and feedback to help veterinarian field colleagues meet performance objectives, improve sales, and strengthen their capabilities.
•Using established performance management and development planning processes and tools to challenge field veterinary colleagues to stretch their potential.
•Identifying the developmental needs and subsequently directing the coordination and delivery of various training and development efforts to increase the effectiveness of his/her personnel.
•Recruiting, selecting, and developing field Veterinary colleagues and identifying management development candidates through the Succession Planning Process.
•Coordinating and collaborating with internal stakeholders (e.g., Vet Ops, Strategic Account Managers, Distribution Coordinators, Marketing, Exton Operations, and Headquarters).
•Participating, as required, on special projects and tactical implementation that aligns with key stakeholders to effectively position products and the portfolio (e.g., reviewing sales material, participating on new product launch teams, providing assistance and support to U.S. Veterinary Medicine Investigations and Product Support and others).
•Providing veterinary specialty support to other Areas or businesses as directed by management and managing this process with direct reports to insure equitable workload.
•Collaborating and building strong partnerships with aligned Area Sales Managers to develop and execute area and veterinary operation plans.
•Providing accurate and timely documentation of activities and customer interactions to specified management levels, and insuring the same of direct reports.
•Insuring that development plans are in place for all direct reports and that they are monitored and revised as necessary to inusure ongoing development.
•Handling various administrative and reporting documents in accordance with corporate records retention guidelines and management timelines.

Customer-centric Technical Support
•Calling on dairy producers, veterinarians, dealers, consultants, and distributor representatives to provide scientific and technical support so PAH may achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.
•Providing sound technical advice on routine inquiries, acting as a resource to assist other PAH team members with inquiries.
•Providing animal health solutions on a broad array of animal health and production issues that are based upon a customer-centric sales approach.
•Partnering with field colleagues to develop appropriate strategies that focus efforts on targeted accounts critical to the success of the business unit or areas (e.g. PPE’s, PET’s, Dairy Wellness Plan Manager, on-farm herd records analysis, diagnostics, etc,. .
•Working with field sales to create, maintain, and execute a customer-focused business development plan that clearly identifies current and future growth opportunities and allocates expense budget and resources for all high potential customers.
•Utilizing excellent presentation skills and appropriate tools (PowerPoint) to conduct educational training on products to both internal and external audiences.
•Providing technical training and education to colleagues within Pfizer Animal Health.
•Advising and assisting U.S. Learning and Development on the technical content of training programs, as required.
• Building and maintaining relationships and influence with key industry leaders including veterinarians, extension, university personnel, diagnostic labs, and other consultants to our customer base.

Qualifications:

These qualifications, experiences, and skills are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual’s performance history and demonstrated potential.

Required Qualifications:
•Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent •Five years post doctoral experience in clinical practice, academia, research or industry •Strong analytical skills including the ability to use various dairy production record systems •Strong problem solving skill and attention to detail •Excellent communication, interpersonal and business management skills •Strong organizational skills •Ability to travel extensively (approx. 60%) including some weekends to manage personnel and business activities •Proven leadership skills •Proven record of accomplishments, demonstrating successful veterinarian practice management, and strategy execution experience
Preferred Qualifications:
•Two (2) years or more private practice experience
•Research experience, published scientific papers •Proven ability to work in a team environment •Strong understanding of trial design and statistical analysis •Extensive knowledge of Pfizer Animal Health products and the animal health industry or ability to learn quickly •Current in assigned areas of veterinary medicine •Ability to think and act strategically •Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills, and attention to detail •Ability to exercise good judgment; make thoughtful and fair decisions based on relevant information •Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills •Ability to interact with and influence Senior Management, peers, and other functions •Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Pfizer’s internal systems)
